The mission to drive a 4WD underwater across Darwin harbour – first attempted in 1983 and revived 40 years later by a motley crew of engineers, divers and just really handy people.

An operation incredibly daring, bloody challenging and very, very Darwin.

There was plenty of media coverage in the lead up to the 2023 attempt, but the Tinny boys reckoned there was something missing. No one seemed to be asking much about the actual nuts and bolts of how it was gonna work.

So Andy headed out the workshop to meet the crew busy preparing the 1978 LandCruiser for its wildest ride ever.
